Details about T, W, L and B

Each image on the page is marked T, W, L or B.
T = Transparent | W = White | L = Light | B = Black
This is information to help decide which image will look best on your particular web page background.

If Your Web Page Background Is:
White - W is best, L is second, T is third.
Light Color - ( light blue or light green, etc. ) L is best, T is second best.
Medium Color - T is best, L is second.
Dark Background - ( dark blue, dark red, etc. ) T is best, L second best.
Black Background - B is best, T second, L is third.

About Image Backgrounds:
When you create a complex image with a transparent background there are almost always pixels around the edges that are 2 different colors. For example, the edge pixels may be half red (the edge color of the image) and half white (the original color of the background). Even though the background of the image may be transparent, these half and half pixels remain. This causes the "halo effect" you sometimes see around an image. These pixels can be removed but it has an effect on the appearance of the image, especially the edges.

W & B - Images created with a white or black background do not have this problem. These gifs have crisper edges and tend to appear to have more depth. If you use a white or black background on your website, these are always your best choice, when available.

L ( light ) - On the images marked with L, some of the fringe pixels ( 1/2 & 1/2 ) have been removed but not all of them. This allows us to maintain sharp edges and yet still have a transparent background. Because many of the fringe pixels are removed, the image can be used on any light colored background without a negative effect to the appearance. However, if you use the image on a web page with a black or dark background the remaining 1/2 & 1/2 pixels will show up and the halo effect will return.

T ( transparent ) - 95 to 100% of all fringe pixels ( 1/2 & 1/2 ) have been removed. This allows T images to be used on any color backgrounds. However, the lighter ( especially white ) the background color the clearer the ragged edges of the image appear. The darker the background color the crisper and more uniform the edges of the image will seem.

In Conclusion - It would be best if we could create every image with the exact color or image of your background. That way they would be an exact match with crisp clear edges. Since there are tens of thousands of different color backgrounds on web sites, that's not very practical. However, using the information above you should be able to choose images that are a good match and hopefully will enhance the appearance of your website.
